International  Spring Quilt Show, Chicago—A quilt show this size can’t be seen in a day!

The International Spring Quilt Show in Chicago has become one of our annual offered tours. This show first appeared in 2003 when the quilters turned out in surprising numbers to support this new international quilt and embellishment show. It was an instant success!

There’s a full gamut of quilts from all over the world – many previous winners from other shows.  Along with the phenomenal quilts and exhibits, there’s a full lineup of venders and classes.

Come join us on our three-day adventure to a professional quilt show just a half day’s journey! This year we plan to shake up this three-day get-away with a visit to the Sears Tower, a night lights city tour with step-on-guide, the largest quilt store in Illinois, a 75,000 square foot fabric warehouse and of course the Spring International Quilt Show

Text Box: Day One: Our tour begins in Iowa with pickups as requested as we travel east on I80. We’ll have a group meal at Behren’s Country Village, a great restaurant experience. This afternoon we’ll visit a quilt store that boasts the largest quilt store in Illinois. Of course we have to check that out for ourselves. Then it’s downtown Chicago to the Sears Tower Skydeck. First we have a film educating us on the structure and creation of this Chicago icon. Across the street you’ll find Giordano’s Restaurant. It was voted best pizza in America by the Today Show and the Chicago Tribune says it’s a must do if you visit Chicago! And tonight it’s our evening meal! You are on you own to try Chicago’s famous stuffed pizza or any of their wonderful sandwiches. It’s been a full day, so before we go to the hotel, let’s scoop the loop! We’ll have a Chicago guide join our group and give us the night lights tour including stopping at some lookout points like the Navy Pier. Our hotel tonight is in the Schaumburg area.
Text Box: Day Two: The show opens at 10:00 AM. Today we will be all day at the quilt show. Our bus will take you to the front door of the convention center. You’ll find and on going fashion show, a juried quilt show, quilt exhibits and hundreds of vendors. We will schedule two pickup times, one at 5PM and one at 7PM when the show closes. Tonight the hotel shuttle will take you to IKEA, a wonderful Scandinavian experience or to the Schaumburg Mall or many local restaurants. If you choose to stay in, our hotel has a wonderful attached restaurant.
Text Box: Day three: We load up our luggage this AM, but the fun isn’t over. For those that want to go back to the show, we will drop you off at the front door just as yesterday. Or another option today, especially for our sewing ladies, if you choose not to return to the show, we will visit a fabric warehouse in downtown Chicago. This place has over 75,000 square feet and they say they have everything! A nice restaurant is within walking distance. This afternoon we will depart from the fabric store and return to the convention center to pickup mid-afternoon when the quilt show closes. Tonight we will have an evening meal break on our return home.
