Houston International Quilt Show

With a nickname  “Granddaddy of Quilt Shows,” the International Quilt Show  has a lot to live up to. The setting for this immense show could not be out done; the mammoth George Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston towers over all the surrounding buildings.  Inside, this building houses the largest quilt show found in one place.  The floor is full of hundreds of quilts, over a thousand vendors and many special exhibits; you need a map just to get around!

I know you may find it hard to believe, but with the passing of each year, this show just grows and grows!  In 2004, the convention center added on and the quilt show  filled the new  real estate  with ease!

Text Box: Day Two: We depart for Houston via two stops. The first, a diamond of a quilt store we found about three years ago on another tour. This store was also mentioned in the famous Quilt Sampler—the secret is out! Our afternoon stop will be your choice between the pecan outlet or the Collins Street Bakery, famous for their fruit cakes -these are the good ones- shipped all over the world! We will also take time in the afternoon to go over the tip sheet on the Houston show and answer any questions and concerns.
Text Box: Day Three and Four: This is the day we’ve been anticipating. The bus will drop us off at the front door. All I can say is if you can’t find it here, you can’t find it anywhere! Remember to pace yourself, you can’t see it all in one day! Take advantage of the free lectures with lots of information and a welcome seat to get a second wind!
Text Box: Day Five: Didn’t quite see it all, or maybe you forgot a purchase. Never mind, we’ve added this extra day just for you! The bus will depart the show early afternoon and we will find ourselves back in Muskogee, Oklahoma for our night’s stay.
Text Box: Day Six: Sit back and enjoy your day; we promise not to stop at anymore quilt stores!
